Shell Shocked

I thought I might be able to attract the larger birds (larger than a finch, that is) if I put out a few peanuts.  I had tried once before.  The peanuts had either fallen over to the other side of the wall or been absconded by some very sneaky birds out of my view.

Today I put a few more on the wall near the water dish.  I noticed this Cardinal which landed on the wall.  He looked at the peanuts, then looked around to see if anyone was watching, then back at the peanuts.  I got to the camera just as he snagged this one and flew off.  It had to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen, at least in my backyard.
