Connected

Canadian troops were encamped in the woods at Sheffield Park during the Second World War, their huts connected by telephone wires fixed directly to the living trees. This particular tree fell long ago, but the green ceramic insulators remain as a kind of mute testimony to the Canadians who stayed here three quarters of a century ago.
