And babies make...more work
Apparently the bluebird eggs have started hatching because both Madame (below) and Monsieur have been very busy taking small insects and tasty things into the nest box all day. If you look closely, you'll see that they both have small insects/spiders in their beaks. I should note that they've completely ignored the mealworms... Unbeknownst to me, Madame was in the box when I carefully opened it to try to have a peak - she refused to budge off the nest, so I just as quickly and gently closed the box. I will wait until I see her leave to check again. If I am able, I'll try to get my cell phone in there for a quick picture.

Hubs as his partners had an all-day meeting today at our house. I had a nice long chat with my parents then headed out for a nice hike, hoping to catch some warblers. While I did see several, they were either 1) high overhead in trees with fierce backlighting, or 2) way to flitty for me to capture. I'm going to try to get out again in the morning to see if I get some better luck.
Still no sign of the fox family so I am wondering if Mama decided to move the kits to a different den - apparently this is not uncommon with foxes. Time will tell, I guess. Makes me glad I took so many pics of them before we left for AL.
Thanks for the love on my hummer yesterday - you will be seeing many, many more shots of them as the summer progresses. You've been warned...
It's rather chilly outside, so I think I will resort to a glass of something red tonight with dinner.
Cheers!
