Denmark: Romo island

Another bright start to the day and a walk to look over the mudflats and the bird population. On the way we disturbed 3 hares, what joy!!! We could just about see dozens of waders, duck, oystercatchers and a bird of prey unidentified.

We headed off the island driving along a road near the coast heading for Ringkobing fiord to a wonderful bird area called Tipperne where thousands of Barnacle Geese rested, also herons, a Spoonbill and a black tailed Godwit. Wonderful! Also skylarks, redshank, grey and pied wagtail, gulls, lapwing.....we thought it would be good to overnight but didn't. From our reading Denmark isn't keen on wild camping, anyawy this was a special bird area. After a few hours of using bino's and the scope we drove back to the road running alongside the sea - Holmsland Kilt - and came across a very pleasant campsite set on that wide band of land - looked like sand. It was cheaper than last night and we parked by the water with a sighting of about a dozen swans at various times. Their flight noise will be remembered as will the campsite.
