Gable Erratic

TO ME IT WILL ALWAYS BE MUSTARD

Today we set off early for the East coast on a birding extravaganza. We did not see the Stone Curlew. We did not see the Red-spotted Bluethroat.

Perhaps because two men had climbed the padlocked gate to the reserve, when there is a notice on the gate saying to keep out, and stood so close to where the Bluethroat had previously been seen, that it probably packed its bags and flew off straight to Timbuktu. Words were exchanged when they climbed back over the gate, but in their eyes they had done nothing wrong; it was the dozen or so of us outside the gate who they thought were stupid.

Anyway, putting that ugly incident behind us, we did see Little Owl, Linnet, Black Redstart, Whitethroat, Rock Dove, Gannet, Kittiwake, Fulmars, Razorbills, Guillemot, and a single Puffin at Bempton Cliffs.

My arms are got a bit sunburnt and we had an ice cream. In May!!
I thought I was going to melt in  the car on the way home.
