Mono Monday . . . Heritage
Travellers mingle
Exploring experiencing
Heritage exchange
This is the scene this afternoon outside our tourist information centre. The people are waiting for buses to take them either onto their next destination or to the tourist attractions in our city. I think these people bring their own heritage with them when they travel in the form of their language, manners and customs. They will learn something of our European/Maori heritage during their time here. This building built in 1914 reflects an English heritage with the tudor-style timber over the plaster exterior. I wanted to take this close up view because of the kowhaiwhai patterns painted above and below the big windows. That is a reference to Maori heritage.
