I was listening to Gardeners' Question Time  from West Suffolk over the weekend ( it was handily on the I player as I missed the initial airing of it); this week's episode featured a question about screening unseemly daubings on a wall with fast growing but low maintenance shrubs.

Now, no names were mentioned but to anyone who knew, it was a question from an Edinburgh resident who feels his life has been blighted by Cigs and his habit of painting his name on a wall to the rear of his EH11 garden. Strangely the response was to let nature take its course. The best answer from the panel was to allow a crop of buddleia to take hold; it's natural, vigorous in its grow, offers good screening, is wildlife friendly (especially butterflies) and needs practically no tending. Loving or otherwise. And in winter it still has enough presence to offer considerable screen properties.

I had cause to think of this as I took the Ciglettes out Cigspotting on Saturday afternoon as part of the nature studies. Hell, Tom even managed to get evidence of me breaking into a secure compound to get a better shot. (see extra) Then proceeded to join me there. He may get a blip life membership for his next birthday at this rate....
