Installation Day!
We met the team of workers contracted to do the installation at 8AM. We pushed Barbara off the back of my truck into the back of a smaller utility truck for the trip up the hill. We fashioned a sling and actually a noose to raise Barbara up to the newly cast pedestal. The EXTRA photos show this maneuvering. I got under her and ground red pastel into the giant nuts welded below to mark the spots for drilling and we gently lowered her to the pedestal. A few taps with a rubber mallet and the spots were marked. Barbara went back aloft, we drilled the cement, mixed and applied the monument cement, attached the big bolts and lowered her into the holes. Voila!
Since she's not been seen by the personnel, we draped her right away and the landscaper came in to re-sod, plant a couple trees, some wavy grasses and roll in some big planters. Monday is the dedication; so the weekend is ours to play with....and off we'll go to Tulsa to do some museum-hopping and find some good food. There's more to come!
Too bad the sun is behind her in the early morning.....
