Life through the lens...

By ValC

Don't fence me in.

I think I mentioned about a week ago that the council were going to start work on our local village pond.
Well they have started.
SEE HERE my blip last August showing how the pond looked then.
They have already cut down the willow trees, and dug up the teasles, daffodils and a lot of irises.
Started dredging the sludge and are tipping that on to the bank.
Which is where I have been told they are planting wild flowers.
I'm glad at least they have left this flowering shrub.
I did notice three male mallards sitting at the edge, and a female on someone's lawn nearby. I don't think there will be any ducklings this year.
I have decided to record the progress on Blip, so may be another update in a week or two. Not sure how long it will take.

Another warm day with hazy sunshine.
Called at the monthly farmers market, only to find the cheese lady hadn't turned up. A big disappointment as she is the only person locally who sells a very creamy French cheese which we love.

Then went over part of tomorrow's walk just to make sure none of the paths were closed.
Good job I did, as the path we usually take had been fenced off, not by the council, but by the farmer. However one of the workmen told me an alternative path, which actually won't take us much out of our way.

Then called to see my sister. They are off on holiday next week, and while away for two weeks she is having a new kitchen fitted, which includes making the entrance into the dining room bigger. So there is also a new floor being laid throughout, and that room decorated too.
She is both excited, and apprehensive. Hoping that all the colours she has chosen look OK, and the total new layout. It is quite an expensive job.
I must say I am looking forward to seeing it too!

MrC put the BBQ together, and we finished the garden swing seat, and put the awning on.
Then I planted runner beans and sugar snap peas.
The potatoes are just peeping through at last, and also the first peas I planted.
The warm weather means everything is shooting up.
I hope we don't get another cold snap.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone. Tomorrow sounds as if it is going to be another lovely day.
