Yellow
There's a tale to the yellow L plate. It should be red we know but more of that later.
Driving lessons have commenced for our eldest. She's doing ok and I am too sat beside her.
Its a bit nerve racking at times but more my problem than hers and things are going well. I remind her to look in her mirrors and keep out the dyke and watch for cyclists, dogs and walkers and we do ok between us and so far we've not fallen out.
Yesterday we tackled a roundabout, twice actually. In the correct lane to begin with, indication, car up her backside like some like to do. I reasured her to take her time, she has 'L' plates on to inform everyone she is learning, so if they choose to intimidate and cause her to make a mistake on their heads be it.
To be fair she didn't need to stop at the roundabout she could have kept going, she acknowledged this herself and was just about to set off when a red car appeared going the wrong way round the roundabout on the inside lane. We came to a sudden halt as the car brakes were applied and the 'L's that came out in surprise and shock were not yellow or red more a purpley shade of 'oh dear me'! We pipped the horn and pointed out she was going the wrong way, which she managed to turn off at the next exit thankfully not going the wrong way down the M6 and disaster averted. She was very lucky Eddie Stobbart and Downton Abbey weren't coming round the inside going for fuel at the garage.
So after that excitement we made our way on our drive. Now to explain the yellow 'L' plate. The magnetic ones on the car fall off. We go so fast at 45mph the wind catches them and takes them away. So we were going to put them in the back window with blu tak but it fell off! So we said we'd photocopy one and put that in the back window. Only the printer had no red so it came out yellow!
