Brown Tail Moth Caterpillars
We have had a really delightful afternoon starting with a lovely lunch with big brother , sister-in-law and niece followed by short walks and drives in the local area. We stood on the Meridian Line at Cleethorpes where a sculpture reminds us that "The World Revolves around Cleethorpes". We gazed out across the Humber past the WW1 forts to the tankers unloading their oil cargo. We drove along the sea front admiring the beautiful flower beds and then to the Fitties to take a closer look at the wildlife. However, it was this nest of caterpillars fascinated us and it seems they are from the brown Tail Moth hosted by Sea Buckthorn bushes. From the snippets I have gleaned about them they are not the most welcome visitors to our shores, and I'm rather glad we didn't disturb them as a nasty rash could have ensued.
