Walking on the water

I took my "new" old Nikkor 80-200mm AF D lens out today and tried to take some bird action pictures during my usual walk around the lake. Well, I didn't get much success. First of all, I think 200mm is just not enough for bird shots. Secondly, the old skew drive auto-focus system is a bit slow on my D800.  The lens is perfect for portrait and event, but not the best the option for actions. However, for a £300 lens which is released since 1997, I really can't ask for more.
