Sandhill Cranes
Al and I took an early morning bike ride, and we saw some wonderful sights. On the way to the park we saw cranes, a huge flock of turkeys, a deer, horses, and many cyclists.
As we made our way around the lake, there was a flock of swans preening in the middle of the lake, and next to the shore were four sandhill cranes. I got this shot by peeking through the branches as they were feeding by the shoreline.
Until I figure a way to haul my big camera on my bike, I have to use my old Lumix...I remember when the photos I got with it would excite me. Not any more!! All I could think of was "Man, I wish I had my Canon!!!"
Even though I got some great shots later with the telephoto at home, this one sums up the magic of the morning. I love the feeling that they don't know or care there is a human observing them.
