Field Bindweed

Can you see it? That surprise I always find in one corner of the garden? Also known as Convolvulus arvensis - or morning glory, a lovelier name. Can't seem to ever dig deeply enough or tug and pull enough. If you turn away because, finally, you got it all - well, it surprises you again. I really can't claim it's a surprise; I know I'll never get rid of it; it lives here, too, and we're learning to tolerate one another. At least I'm learning. The field bindweed, what is it learning? It's learning to hide and to surprise. Clever thing.
