Idlewild Airport, 28 May 1958

Customs officer searching the luggage of this couple before entering the US. In fact the couple were my grandparents! The shot is the beginning of a travel diary written by my late father. He was working then in Canada and went down to New York to pick up his parents, afterwards travelling a full month from coast to coast.

I am really looking forward to read it carefully and enjoy the pictures from that period. Lots to see and to learn. I was wondering about the airport name I have never heard of. The solution is so simple: it is the old name of the JFK airport in New York.

I am helping tonight and tomorrow my mom to prepare her move in June and was grateful to have discovered and received that travel journal.
