What a difference...
A few days make.
I am pleased to report that Alan is almost back to his usual self after the nightmare of last Friday. He's still desperate to get the bandage off his hand and still in pain so he's taking his codeine without any protest. I wish the same could be said for his antibiotic. After 45 minutes trying to persuade him to take 10 mls at tea time until, almost losing my patience, I changed tack and made him laugh. As soon as he opened his mouth, the co-amoxiclav was scooted in. Job done! But other than that he has astounded me with his resilience. His hand must be agony but for the most part he's been cheery and full of his usual nonsense.
I also broke the news that he won't be going swimming tomorrow (or the next 5 Thursdays). He took it much better than I thought he would. I did tell him it isn't cancelled, just postponed so that softened the blow. Of course that might change tomorrow when it actually sinks in that he really isn't going swimming :-/
I noticed yesterday that the horrible shooting pains in my thigh had subsided a bit. I didn't say anything as I didn't want to temp fate, but today has been even better. I still have pain but to be able to take a step without the sharp, shooting, nerve type pain stabbing randomly all over the top of my leg and down the outside of my thigh has been wonderful. Here's hoping it's the start of a decent recovery.
