Sunrise over Stretton Valley
Sunrise: 5:29 am
Clear, skies, low temperatures and light winds at this time of year often offer up the possibility of fog patches, at least around sunrise. As I was driving along the A5 I went through this patch of fog, hanging above the River Penk, as it runs through Stretton Valley. It was worth a stop, despite another visit planned to Weston Park.
Technical: As you can imagine, exposing this shot is difficult. Even with 3 stops of ND filtration for the sky it required bracketing (3 images, each 2 stops apart). Into photo merge in Lightroom, some judicious toning and sharpening and you have the finished image. I'd have loved to be nearer to the river but there was no way of getting closer (without trampling the crop).
