Celts
Today's the day ....................... to go to the exhibition
We enjoyed the series of programmes on the TV a while back - and we were interested to hear what Paula and Gordon had to say about it when they went to see the exhibition on the Celts in the British Museum in November last year. We knew that we would have a chance to see it for ourselves when the exhibition moved to the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh on the 10th March. And today was the day that we went.
I have to say that I was completely blown away by it all. What a privilege to see more than 300 treasured objects from across the UK and Europe brought together for the first time to tell the story of just who the Celts were. When you are looking at a solid gold torc - a sort of ring for the neck - that is 2,500 years old but looking as if it had been made yesterday, it puts history into perspective. There is just enough information on offer to explain - but not overwhelm. It is one of the best exhibitions I have ever seen.
If you're in Edinburgh and you get the chance, do go and see it. It's on until 25th September .........................
PS Our main focus this week (when we're not going to exhibitions!) is to look after Maisie. I am just adding a photo of her for brother Ron and Margaret so that they know she's ok. In fact, she's pretty much in charge - and by the end of the week she'll have us nicely trained ..................
