Tunstall -Church of St John the Baptist
Today we went to this church in Tunstall to look for information about J's great ,great grandfather, who was a curate in the parish a very long time ago. It is a beautiful place .
There was a small exhibition of letters and historical school records about the Bronte family who were connected to the church .
There was also information about the recent discovery of a very valuable painting by Fancesco Montemezzano entitled 'Descent from the Cross '.
Here is a link to the BBC reporting of the discovery last year.

A copy now hangs in place of the original.
I have included a picture of one of the small prints of the painting, just for my own record.
I can't say I appreciate this style of religious art.
We also spent a few more hours at the reserve before heading back north. Another gorgeous sunny spring day.
We have had a really nice wee break.
