The Lighted Life

Lazy and Dazed

I am sure I have had a lazier day than today but, frankly, I cannot remember when. I jumped out of bed at the crack of 9:30 and drank espresso and read the "early" morning papers until 11 am. And the rest of this day followed this amazing pace. No computers, no phones, no technology at all for I was mostly surrounded by lounge chairs and books and magazines. In fact, I did not leave the confines of our yard until 5 pm and, then, only to walk the dogs. Frankly, a day of sloth is exactly what I needed.

Eventually, I did manage to pull a few weeds and, while I was in the garden late this evening, this Top Gun type fly landed on a flower next to me. I am still struggling to master this 105mm lens but I loved how this image captured the harmony which exists between his color and that of the center of the daisy. Even his wings have a natural camouflage design. If you looked quickly from above and without a macro lens, this fly was not evident on the center of the flower. Tis a bit more fun in large if you have the time.

On a side note, I have been thinking often about the tragedy that happened in Colorado this week. I cannot make sense of it all. I have many views on the what, who, when, where, why and how but those opinions may just be fodder. What matters most is that we lend our hearts and our prayers and our minds to the families of the dead and those that have survived. I know this is wishful thinking but, please, may this never happen again.

I hope you are all having a GREAT weekend and I intend to catch up on journals in the morning. In the interim, thank you!
