Birthday Weekend

We surprised D with a night away in...

Maidstone! (The girls were at a gala in Gillingham all day, so it made sense to stay nearby.)

It turned out to be a lovely place on the river, and a nice sunny day, but we were happy spending a lazy afternoon watching the snooker, with a glass or two of bubbly!

Had a nice family dinner at the restaurant next door, played a few games of cards, then back to the hotel to watch the final frames of the session. It's been a long time since I've fallen asleep while watching snooker in bed- used to do it all the time as a kid. I'd do all I could to stay awake to the late hour when it all started, then be asleep within a few frames.
