Morelia Cathedral
I do not consider myself a particularly religious man, but walking into the Cathedral in downtown Morelia I can certainly see how someone could become a convert. The Morelia Cathedral (officially named Cathedral of the Divine Savior of Morelia) is widely considered one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in Mexico. Today's photo does not do justice to the incredible beauty of the soaring ceiling. It also does not allow viewers to hear the stupendous sound emanating from some of the 4,600 pipes in the organ at the back of the cathedral. According to one website, this impressive structure was built between 1660 and 1744. Its twin 60 meter towers are the tallest of their kind in America and its overall size was large enough to overshadow the Basilica in our very own Patzcuaro and establish this cathedral as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.
