Combatting my fears, head on

Today, and it is far from over it is not even 6pm, has been by far the most exciting day so far. Up, as always before 6am, out for breakfast at a local bread making place which actually didn't do breakfasts as such so along to the Bagel place I went the other day, unfortunately breaking my determined effort to never eat in the same place twice.

After that, and after considerable humming and hawing, I decided to combat my fears and drive up the infamous Squaw Peak road. I am not a major fan of heights but I decided that it was worth the effort. As I drove cagily up at a steady 20 mph, I came across one driver on the way down towing a trailer texting someone on his phone, hmm.

The view is indeed unbelievable and I sat there for an hour.

On descending, I headed to a yard sale, as one does then got a call from Jesse who had kindly offered to do the tourist guide in Salt Lake City. So we headed off, via lunch in an old style diner, simply the coolest place I have eaten yet and even succumbed to some fizzy soda drinks, something I really don't like in general but hey if oyu go to a diner, I don't think you can select songs on the jukebox (Beach Boys x2, Creedence and Tom Petty) eat hash browns and eggs medium over easy (yep it was new to me also) and not drink some soda, so Dr Peppers it was and I liked it!

After that SLC, the Temple, Tabernacle and Assembly Room, all stunning, fascinating stuff, one of our guides was from Glasgow, well what were the chances of that happening. They explained their beliefs and answered questions politely.

Then, not converted, we went for a beer.

I could have chosen from about 40 different photos today, but the view was truly stunning.

Incidentally the photo taken yesterday was from a location in the distance on the left.
