I have spent an amazing couple of days with my son in Oxford, where I was born.
We drove past the house I used to live in and partway down the route I used to walk to junior school
It was interesting how looking at my childhood surroundings through adult eyes, completely changed the scale of everything.
Everything seemed so much smaller and the long ( to my 8 year old legs ) journey to school seemed like no distance at all!
My mum couldn't drive, so journeys involved public transport and were often long and complicated. Today, with my drivers eyes, I could see how the streets linked up, how journeys that seemed difficult are actually quite simple and how places that seemed far away were much nearer than I realised. Maybe life is never as complicated as it seems sometimes.
It is a beautiful place and we both felt inspired and energised.
