St. John the Baptist Church at Staintondale

This little village church seems to rejoice
in simplicity. What it may lack in stained
glass or architectural embellishments it
gains in incomparable views over open fields
to the sea. There can be few who experience
the quiet of its graveyard who would be
unhappy to be resting there. But today is all
about ensuring that the Church can remain
open. The locals are charged with raising £1000.
every year towards maintenance costs and the
Friends of St John's has been established to
undertake this challenge. Today's coffee
morning, art exhibition and picture sale is believed
to have raised in the region of £400. It is a testament
to the dedication of a few whose hard work has
already almost achieved its target for this year.
