Blackett's Lighthouse, Timaru
Built in 1877, this beautiful old lighthouse stands on the Benvenue cliffs, overlooking the Port of Timaru.
Originally a lighthouse for the Port it stood on top of The Terrace, but was then moved twice, in 1980 and then to it's new location in 2012.
It's a beautiful historic lighthouse, similar to the ones at Akaroa and Moeraki. To keep the historic feel, I processed the image using Nik Efex to give it a touch of nostalgia and a painterly look.
The moody Nor'West sky was perfect for the processing too. It's another unseasonably warm night, with beautiful clear starry skies. Which reminds me, thanks to all those who gave me some love for my Tekapo night sky shot yesterday.
