Sunday lunch with friends

Today the weather was warm and sunny, and our friend who had the triple bypass and his wife had invited us to lunch. The usual gang were there, eight of us in all, and we admired his scar (very neat and nicely healed) and ate roast chicken, as well as the cheese course and lemon meringue pie which you can see in the photos.
In France, after a triple bypass, people get sent to a residential cardiac rehabilitation unit for four weeks, to exercise and build up stamina, and learn how to eat healthily. After two weeks he was given an afternoon pass on a Saturday and almost a whole Sunday off, so had to be back by 6pm. He still looks a bit pale, but is almost ready to be set free, and will be home for good on Tuesday.
