As seen from the tour boat cruising along the Prinsengracht, the spire of the Westerkerk towers over the district of Grachtengordel in the old city of Amsterdam.

Built between 1621 and 1630, Hendrick de Keyser's building was one of the oldest Protestant churches in Europe, finished by his son Pieter and inaugurated in June 1631.
