Sunset on the Acequia Madre (Montano Bridge)

The acequia madre is the main irrigation ditch in Albuquerque. It parallels the river and feeds a whole network of smaller ditches, which feed back into drains, where the water returns to the river. It has a whole little eco-system that also parallels the river. It is full of small fish, cray fish and turtles. Similar plants grow along it's bottom and it's edges where the conservancy district lets them keep growing (the conservancy has a continuing bad habit of mowing and ditch clearing).
