The old gate house

..is all that is left of Mauldslie castle. Took a little detour through the Clyde valley and it looked beautiful in the evening light. 

Stumbled upon this lovely gatehouse and stopped to have a look around. Through the gate leads an arched bridge across the river Clyde, a very romantic setting. Old pictures of this castle look stunning but sadly it is now demolished and all that remains is its humble gateway. 

Where the castle once stood is now the site of a sewage works!
