Purple Heron(Ardea purpurea)

Another type of Heron visiting Muscat a very large, juvenile Purple Heron, not really very purple athough there is a very slight purple sheen to the wing feathers. I would called this one more chestnut brown, but he does look very handsome. For his size he's incredible shy and is happiest lurking amongst the reeds, into which he blends in very nicely!
