Wide Vistas

Nipped into Wotton under Edge this morning, to take a gander at the photography exhibition there by Matt Bigwood, where we chatted about some of his splendid pictures on display there. As a nod to some of his work, Janet and I then drove up to Froster Common to watch the storms bubble up over Wales and the river Seven far below.

The picture is of the viewpoint at Froster Hill, which points to such delights as the longbarrows on the escarpment, across to the two old nuclear power stations on the edge of the Severn, and over to the Malverns to the right. It was erected by the AA and reports the hill as being at a height of 778 feet (remember when things were measured in feet?)

The extra is another wide angle, this one of the Perry & Dawes Almshouses in Wotton under Edge, built in 1638.
