Peveril of the Peak (yet again)

Peveril of the Peak (1823) is a novel by Sir Walter Scott, in which Cavalier Julian Peveril and Alice Bridgenorth, daughter of a Roundhead, do their thing. It's also the name of a traditional Manchester pub, where I supped good ale last night.
