Bouverie Preserve

We had an opportunity to go to the Bouverie Preserve again…this time it was a 'Twilight Hike from 5:30 to 8:pm.  The wildflowers are just about finished so it was fortunate that our docent, Jerry,  was more of a bird than a flower specialist. We learned to recognize several birdcalls and we took his word for the fact that he saw a pileated woodpecker. Next time maybe we'll learn how to actually see the birds once we've learned their calls. According to Jerry, it's all in knowing where to look….

I grabbed the wrong camera on the way out, and the battery died before we got very far, but I liked the play of the evening light in the oak trees in the meadow.  It is a spectacular place and it is a privilege to be able to spend time there with pleasant and knowledgeable people.
