Swift about to Swallow.......

Through out the day Swifts and Swallows skim just above the water reaching down to take a sip of water.
They are hugely impressive fliers.
The villa is perched high on a hillside that's at the top of a valley. Our hillside is parrallel to the coastline which is about 5 miles in the distance. Behind us are the smaller mountains of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.
The view out to the sea during the day is fantastic, at night the view is simply magical. The twinkling of the lights from the village below us stretch out to the costal town of Costa Torrox, overhead the sky is alight with stars.

The Swifts and Swallows continue their drinking from the pool until 9-30ish, then they disappear and the bats come out to play.
With the light on in the pool and the light along the wall, you can actually see the bats doing exactly what the birds were doing, skimmimg over the pool and drinking. If you think the birds are quick, you should see the bats.

My blip shows a swift about to take a drink, i took a truck load of pics to try and get just one decent shot.

Perhaps i'll have better luck next year.
