Butterfly and Therapy
I saw this evening this butterfly on the wall in our garden. I love to watch it, and especially the shadow.
As psychotherapist I use sometimes the metaphor from the caterpillar and the butterfly. (It's not very original but so strong.)
A butterfly can only become a butterfly by being a caterpillar. The point is that you can't force a caterpillar to become a butterfly. It can only do what it has to do... eat, eat, eat. At one day it decides to make a cocoon. And than the transformation begins. And again, you can't force to come out of the cocoon. So it takes time to become a butterfly.
For people: you can't force yourself to become what you are not at this time. You have the follow your own process and be what you are. Also other people can't force you to be somebody else than you are at this time.
You have to eat, eat, eat and see what's next in your process.
So take your time to become who you are, and don't force it....
