Oregon Coast, a Heron and a Non Rookie Run
As I said yesterday, many cities and tedious driving...
Driving down the Oregon and Northern California coast as a tourist is one thing but in a 68 foot long vehicle it is a totally different matter..
First the cities.. The roads are not that wide to begin with so when I go by a parked car at 35 mph I am within 6 inches of the car maximum. That leads me to tourist. (I include myself in this because I am also guilty) Something about having fun, seeing the sights and not paying attention to whats around them. I still don't know how I haven't hit a car door opening yet or a person walking out between parked cars looking at a cell phone.. As they say "by the grace of god go I"
Then a 4 miles stretch of highway 101 where many people have lost their lives. 4 miles of 6-7% downgrade with a zillion 25-30 mph corners, hoping the road is still there around the next corner (this time they were working on 5 sections of road slowly slipping away and a short section on one lane road where two lanes out of three were gone), no shoulders most of the way and of course protecting the customers load from moving in the trailer too.. Tomorrow I do it in reverse.. One way in, one way out..
As for the two photos.. The main photo is one picture I took at lunch looking at a small section of Oregon coast.. Yes a little fog, mist, and... The second photo was on a walk I took after I secured the truck to calm my nerves.. Saw a heron, cormorant, three egrets, a zillion plovers, two crows and one Canadian goose that must of been lost...
