Devotion

Some Buddhists are theists; some are not. I'm not. Kamala Masters is not. She says, "If you enjoy feeling devotion, practice devotion to your own capacity to love. Be devoted to your own heart. This devotion will give you confidence in your ability to realize freedom."

Because many different kinds of Buddhists come to this center, there are quite a few images of Buddhas on the property and several little shrines. This statue, about three feet tall and nestled in blossoming wildflowers, is particularly pleasing to my eyes. The extra is another slug--almost transparent and quiveringly vulnerable.
