Two For Sorrow…

I know the rhyme goes, “One for sorrow, two for joy…” ,  but in this case I fear it is a case of two for sorrow…

Yesterday, I noticed that the Magpies were making repeated trips to the tree where the Wood Pigeon was busy building his nest the other day. I fear they may have discovered a source of freshly laid eggs. Then this afternoon I spotted these two busy trying to peck their way down into the Pyracantha hedge. Over the past few weeks, a variety of small birds have been flitting in and out of the hedge, presumably also building nests. So I fear these cunning Magpies have discovered another fresh food supply. Two for sorrow…
