Black and White, with a Dash or Two

6.1C starting with sleet showers then clearing to the odd shower and cloudy. Not too dull. Wind from the South, then the West and WNW up to 29 mph with gusts to 39 mph.

Yesterday evening Apothecary7 and I went to a meeting of The Kintyre Antiquarian and Natural History Society (founded in 1921 and exists to promote the history, archaeology and natural history of the peninsula).
They had their AGM and a "bring and tell" meeting where members brought along objects and discussed them with the audience. It was a very interesting evening.

The Society organises monthly lectures in Campbeltown - from October to April, annually - and has published its journal, 'The Kintyre Magazine', twice a year since 1977, in addition to a range of books on diverse subjects relating to Kintyre. We will be looking out for their next meeting.

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk. Runrig on the Nano (Mara and Heartland).
We crossed the road and made our way across the park to the esplanade then walked round past the marina to the two quays of the harbour. We had a wander out on the old quay and I took a few close shots of the fishing boats from which I made a simple abstract for Abstract Thursday on the theme of "black and white, with a dash or two".

The same boat was berthed at the new quay. The ferry is due in this evening at the new quay, on its first run of the new season. It is scheduled to leave at 7am tomorrow for the crossing to Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast.

We carried on round the shore of Campbeltown Loch, along the path in the park, then carried on out Kilkerran Road. We passed a Heron which was standing in the shallows near the shore. We went round to Glenramskill today, from where the Nato jetty can be seen, turning back when we reached the cottage where there is a goldsmith's studio. There was snow visible on the tops of the hills on Arran.

We came back along the street side of the park and made our way back though town to get home.
