On the move

We left Aqaba last night and sailed south through the Gulf of Aqaba, Strait of Tiran and then northward into the Gulf of Suez. We saw a number of drilling platforms, but surprisingly little sea traffic.

No gym session today after all the walking at Petra yesterday, but we did attend the lecture by Commodore Jerry Kyd who spoke about the Royal Navy and its future. He is the new commanding officer of the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, which is being fitted out in Scotland at present, ready for sea trials. It was an interesting talk and made many people more aware of the multinational presence and support in the areas of risk to sea transportation in the world.

There are many activities on board that can be done during the day. This is one of them (in extras) in the very posh ballroom, with dance lessons available. Not one of our activities, history has taught us that B has two left feet when attempting to dance (ballroom wise) and I’m wary of getting squashed toes!!
