Flower Power
This beautiful carnation is in a bouquet given to me by a very dear friend - it looks best in large. I've read that they were originally brought to Britain by the Romans. The tale is that their seeds came over on the mud of a soldier's boots, but more likely they brought the seeds with them as in Italy they were used for wreaths and garlands. Originally they were known as a coronation, but over time this became carnation. Another theory is that the name came from the Latin 'carnis' or flesh, referring to the colour.
Well I think it's a carnation, it might be a pink or something else entirely given my lack of ability to identify flowers even with a picture in front of me!!!
Had my buyer's surveyor round today.......but I've still not found a house to buy!
