The Square
It was a lovely day in Skibbereen today, sun was shining brightly, real air of late Spring, early Summer. Did my usual wander in town at lunchtime. Sometimes there's not much to see, but only on the surface. I've found a small town walked in, watched, around the same time each day has its rituals and its surprises. Today yielded a typical West Cork soft-hatted lady cycling past a large pile of furry toys featuring a unicorn, a spot of red among other rich colours, a man struggling with a large parcel to the amusement of his little girl, (this one calling out for a caption).
But my main shot says the most to me, the lads out for lunch from school, three entering and exiting the shot as if passing through their time and town, their eyes out on stalks at the attractive woman on her phone. The two old lads chatting, who they may replace in time and in the corner, sitting in the shade of the tree, the old man who passes me most days, pushing his single bag of groceries in the shopping trolley, which he uses as a walker all the way home at the other end of town. The square they all are in of course is not square shaped...
