Spring Peeps

I'm trying to get back into a walking routine, and on a sunny morning like this, I was delighted to combine walking with looking for signs of spring at Lake Padden. 

These Mallard ducklings were irresistible, and I have to admit following them as they skirted the shore of the lake with their watchful mother. The extra shows one of the ducklings taking a close look at something interesting -- to a duck -- on a tiny branch. 

A lovely way to start the day!
