Crabs with Attitude

I've come across these small land crabs many times since moving to Tam Dao. I once tried to help one off the road up to our centre as it was missing a pincer and I was worried it would get run over by a motorbike. Except that it flatly refused my help and instead put up its one pincer in threat and gave me some serious attitude. This one is no exception! In his defence however, I had just accidentally kicked the poor little guy as I walked out the front door of our communal yellow bungalow (yb), completely oblivious to my arthropod visitor. For a moment I thought I'd kicked a cane toad... but then remembered I'm in Vietnam, not Queensland!
