Return to the North

A day at the Ashley River estuary

After my trip down to the estuary yesterday morning with Flying I decided to head back today (later in the day so didn't have to get up at 5.30am!)

I took some pretty rubbish shots yesterday and I had fully intended focusing on landscapes today so set off walking with my 15-85mm lens on. Within five minutes I spotted a kingfisher so out came the zoom. Of course the kingfisher had bloody bolted by then but left the lens on. And am I glad I did. I photographed grey herons, spoonbills, hawks, turnstones, pied stilts, shags, and finally kingfishers!. Too many shots so have added some here if you want to check some out (also a couple in extras)
The spoonbill won it for crash landing :-)
