Badges
The picture doesn't even begin to hint at the amazing effort made by the boy in the blue top as he is presented with some badges at the Scout Group parents evening. He is autistic and learning disabled and as a consequence, he struggles to cope with unexpected events, changes in routine, noise and attention. So there he was, sat at the back of the room, focused on his Ipad to shut out the rest of the world, when he was asked to go up and collect his badges. He was the only beaver in the hall so all eyes were on him. Somehow, and with a lot of support from Mum, he went out and did what was needed. Extraordinary achievement given the fact we took 20 mins earlier on to even manage to get him into the back of the hall as it was somewhere he hadn't been before and there were a lot of people already in. Stuff we take for granted is so much harder for those with these extra challenges.
