Marsh Tit ? / Willow Tit? (title amended at 22:46)
We had a Skype chat to our family late this morning, but other than that it was a pretty uneventful day. Kai (our 6 year old grandson) sported a rather large dressing on his chin, and told us that he had fallen over on Friday which resulted in 6 stitches in his chin. His Dad said that he was very brave, and hardly cried at all.
His little brother (who will be 3 next week) made us laugh with his antics, showing us some of the exercises which he does at nursery school. He's got the sturdiest little legs, and it's nice to know that he's getting frequent exercise. As a family, they go on frequent hikes up the mountains which are just behind where they live, and also on bike rides on the cycle tracks which they have there (Taipei, Taiwan), often on disused railway lines.
I often wonder what it would be like to be a "normal" family and have conversations and ad hoc phone calls instead of having to arrange each contact one or two weeks in advance. We've never been able to do that.
I'm pretty sure this is a marsh tit, but it could possibly be a blackcap. It was on the feeder very near to our back door. We have seen this little chap quite a bit recently, and he's becoming very brave.
The bird song in our garden is tremendous at the moment. It's the most beautiful sound when we step outside or just open the bedroom windows.
