Wood Anemone

It has been cold today but we went for a bracing walk in woodlands in the Oswestry hills. The birds must all have been sheltering from the wind but there were lots of beautiful woodland flowers - wood anemones, primroses, violets and bluebells as well as the last of the celandines. I see that this wood anemone's petal has been a snack for some little creature.

A big tree had fallen and my extra photo shows the little clump of violets growing on top of the huge root that was sticking up in the air.
