DERELICT SUNDAY
Mr. HCB and I went out after church looking for something for Derelict Sunday. It was quite a pleasant day with a lovely blue sky and fluffy clouds again, but we decided after about an hour that the roads were more derelict than anything else around us.
We made our way towards Lambourn, but as this is a large village where lots of racehorse trainers live, together with many racing stables, we decided that we wouldn’t find much that was derelict here, so on we went.
We had almost given up when Mr. HCB spotted what we think is a slurry tanker on one of the byways. It looked as if it had been abandoned and as if it hadn’t been used for quite sometime, so here is my offering for Derelict Sunday, and I might add, I got stung by nettles whilst taking this photograph!
It was really good to be out enjoying the countryside; we saw sheep and lambs, horses, cows, and several birds of prey. The rapeseed is beginning to flower, which gives the fields a lovely yellow tinge and we love the rolling downs of Wiltshire and Berkshire. Mountains and hills are great, but there is something about the gently undulating downs that never ceases to excite us and make us glad that we live in such a beautiful county.
“Life has all sorts of hills and valleys,
and sometimes you don't end up doing
what you had your heart set out on,
but sometimes that's even better!”
